The Diverse Arts Culture Works Board of Directors cordially invites you to spend an evening at New East Gallery celebrating the rich culture of East Austin enjoying music, art, and food prepared and donated by Austin’s finest chefs. On Saturday, December 18, 2010 at East End Gallery, supporters of Diverse Arts will gather at 6 p.m. to support and celebrate the work of a host of local artists dedicated to preserving and promoting multiculturalism in Austin, Texas.
The year ends on a high note. Diverse Arts hosted more than 6 exhibits and 35 live music events despite severe reductions in its budget as the result of the nation’s recent economic downturn. Through budget reductions, New East Gallery, Victory Grill, and Kenny Dorham’s Backyard consistently maintained the commitment to bring culturally diverse programming to Central Texas by providing programming for the East Austin Cultural Heritage District.
The holiday party is held each year to provide donors and supporters the opportunity to survey the organization’s progress at year-end. Diverse Arts’ Executive Director, Harold McMillan, says the event plays a key role in funding for the upcoming year. “We rely on the generous support of donors to maintain our mission. Come join us for an evening of great music and food as we celebrate what community can do when we work together,” said McMillan.
