Jose "Sweet Tone" Ruiz

When Jose Ruiz grabs a harmonica he doesn’t just blow - he blows up. Entering the world of music on a windy morning in 2001, Ruiz dove in deep on a curious whim that has grown into a deep passion for his craft. Jose is admired on the scene for his ability to play harmonica with a bold fury that tears down the tracks with sugar-sweet highs and foghorn lows.

He has worked extensively with Grammy-nominated artist Woody Russell and torn the roof off Chuggin’ Monkey bar and Kick Butt Coffee, among many other 6th Street venues. His own project, The
Forbidden Blues Band, had their work featured by Fox 7 News, and his incredible performance in the broadway musical “Big River” earned intense critical praise and a string of standing ovations.

Nowadays, his brand of big-power blowing cements him as a cornerstone member of the ESBS. Ruiz brings the power and passion of a “musician’s musician” to the table every time he hits the stage.
