Please join DiverseArts this Sunday, December 19 at the Historic Victory Grill (1104 East 11th Street) to celebrate the season with a full day of high quality blues, jazz, and soul performances from some of Austin best musical artists. The event, Soul of the Season, is a show of support for Harold McMillan and DiverseArts Culture Works from the Austin music community as a way to aid McMillan and the organization in these difficult financial times. Harold McMillan and DiverseArts have been key players in Austin's art and culture scene for more than 20 years, from the early days of the Clarksville Jazz Fest to today's efforts to develop and produce cultural programming for the East Austin African American Cultural Heritage District.

In the midst of the current economic downturn, decreases in grant funds and contributions from supporters have placed McMillan's continued ability to engage in this worthwhile and needed work in jeopardy. Soul of the Season is the music community's way of showing some love and support as DiverseArts attempts to keep alive its mission to preserve the African American artistic, musical, and cultural presence in Central East Austin.
