Join us again on August 26th for the East End’s monthly celebration of culture and community! For the seventh consecutive season, DiverseArts Culture Works hosts East End Fourth Fridays!: a fun, family-friendly celebration of art, music and community in East Austin.
Headlining this month’s lineup is East Side Blues Syndicate! The group, which features longtime Austin bassist Harold McMillan, harmonica master Jose Ruiz, and local blues favorite Woody Russell, takes over the Victory Grill every Monday night for their Blue Monday Blues Jams. Now they bring their blistering blues power to the stage at Kenny Dorham's Backyard, where they are joined by Austin blues guitarist and vocalist Matthew Robinson for a stellar musical performance guaranteed to have the crowd up out of their seats!
This month, in honor of the approach of Fall and the start of the school year, East End Fourth Fridays! features two of Austin's most promising kid-fronted bands to provide an energetic and family-friendly lineup before the East Side Blues Syndicate takes the stage. Music begins at 8 pm with the Aviators, a youth rock band whose music blends classic rock, garage rock, and roots for a sound that is both edgy and appropriate for the whole family. Following them are the Peterson Brothers Band, starring young blues virtuosos Glenn and Alex Peterson. At 14 and 11 years old, these brothers possess a talent for blues guitar and bass that belies their age, and have played numerous blues festivals and shows all over Texas.
In addition to this high-energy lineup, we offer free Live Oak beer for adults and free East Side Pies pizzas for the kids (while supplies last)! From 7 to 8 pm, there are free, hands-on children’s art activities, with a $5 cover for adults who stick around for the music. Our vending partner, Sun Kitchens Co-op, also has tasty organic vegan and non-vegan treats available for purchase, including lamb kabobs, avocado milkshakes, sweet and savory crepes, hamburgers and more.
Bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, family, and friends to Kenny Dorham’s Backyard for an evening of food, art, and multicultural music under the stars as we celebrate East Austin’s vibrant community!

About Fourth Fridays!:

The event takes place every fourth Friday of the month at Kenny Dorham’s Backyard, showcasing art and craft vendors and live music while providing good food, refreshments, and free activities for children.
