Kenny Dorham's Backyard is starting off it's first year as an official SXSW venue with the sounds of flamenco, tex-mex and rock. Kenny Dorham's will be working with Todd Austin, The Austin Tejano Music Coalition and Diverse Arts Culture Works to showcase local talent.  Talent will include Cerronato, David Garza, Texas Tornados and Del Castillo on Friday, March 19th. The night will be jam packed with inspiring local artists, hoping to draw in the crowd of Latin music loving Austinites and SXSW goers. With these artists' fusions and modern adaptions of Latin rock, Kenny Dorham's is sure not to disappoint in its first year as an official venue.

Cerronato
Cerronato will begin the night at 8pm with a one-hour show showcasing their Colombian musical influences. They pride themselves in making music that is passionate and encourages listeners to treasure every moment especially times of celebration. Cerronato utilizes the traditional Colombian music styles of callenato and cumbia and infuses them with eccentric bass, fervent bongo beats and quirky accordion melodies. The mix of traditional and modern music resonates in this group’s songs that are sure too entice listeners of all ages.

David Garza
This young virtuoso's CDs reflect his maturity from boyhood to becoming a man with a touch of romanticism that appeals to the "Gen X" crowd. His music has been compared to the likes of Freddie Mercury, Jeff Buckley and Robert Plant.

Del Castillo
Del Castillo started as a CD project in 2000, but has since become a symbol of what blending cultural boundaries can produce. Their unique blend of Latin, Blues, Flamenco and Rock has captured the hearts of fans and proven that uniting these genres can create exceptionally unique music. Del Castillo has received numerous awards for their music including SXSW “Album of the Year award for their CD, Vida in 2002 and Brotherhood in 2006. Also, they have contributed music to many different movie soundtracks including Sin City, Grindhouse, and Kill Bill Vol. II.

Texas Tornados
The Texas Tornados will be performing at Kenny Dorham's Backyard only weeks after releasing the album, Esta Bueno, their first album in  ten years.  They describe themselves as a  reflection of their Texas roots, a mixture of Tex Mex, rock, country and polkas. The band expects to put on a high energy show  with new songs and old classics that will strum the heartstrings of listerners.

This year's shows at Kenny Dorham's Backyard will be filled with the unique music of local Latin groups that will bring these artists talents to the forefront.  Listeners wanting to hear a plethora of different genres will not be let down by what these artists have to offer.
